The Viottolo offers daily kayak excursions in three different areas of the island<\/strong> of Elba<\/strong><\/a>: Marina di Campo, Fetovaia and the Enfola. The duration is 2 hours for half-day excursions and about 5 hours for full days. In addition to daily kayak excursions, we offer a week end<\/strong> <\/a>on kayak and a week-long tour of the island of Elba<\/a>\u00a0.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In all kayak excursions on the island of Elba you will be accompanied by expert environmental guides and the use of kayaks and related equipment is included.<\/p>\n

If you do not practice sea kayaking, but you want to try a kayak trip with us, you do not have to worry because it is very simple and our guides will do everyone a mini kayak course that will allow you to master the half.<\/p>\n

Departure is from the north beach of Enfola, once home to the most relevant local tuna fishery . The coast here is very indented, but thanks to our kayaks\u2019 small size and low draught, we are able to steer easily among the rocks and get to enjoy the suggestive transparencies. We reach Arco degli Argonauti, a natural arch that allows to pass through the rock then view the beautiful white cliffs of Aplite. Here, the colour of the sea is one of the clearest on the island, its water limpidity enables you to observe shoals of small fish, almost feeling like you are suspended mid air. The first beach we come across is Sansone, a strip of white pebbles by a breathtaking vertical cliff, followed then by the beaches of Acquavivetta, Acquaviva and Prunini. Sightings of Herring gulls and European shags are frequent, as especially in spring time they storm cliffs for nesting. A brief introduction to sea kayaking and we set off from the beach of Fetovaia, which also lends its name to the crystal clear water bay. The east side of the bay is characterized by a light colour granite cliff while the west side by somehow metamorphic dark rocks and the sea colour varies from emerald green to turquoise. From Fetovaia\u2019s tip the view sweeps across the south coast of Elba Island, then off the coast of the islands of Montecristo<\/a><\/strong> and Pianosa<\/strong> <\/a>up to Corsica, that in late spring still shows off some snow-covered major peaks. We navigate inshore among ravines and outcrops along a pretty wild stretch of coast where at times, with a bit of luck, you might spot a rare Corsican seagull.
\nWe then get to Le Tombe beach area, where there is a series of tiny and wild beaches one after the other characterized by dark rocks, which in the hot weather, feel like they were inflamed. Departing from Marina di Campo beach,\u00a0 we head towards the left side of the gulf characterized by an alternation of granite and sedimentary rocks, then cross an area called \u201cLa Libreria” and by navigating close along a coastline of cliffs and ravines we arrive at the Islet of Porto Caccamo. Our sea Kayak allows us to get between outcropping rocks, giving us the chance to observe its shallow sea made up by Posidonia meadows and a rocky seabed. Carrying on, we reach the enchanting Ischia cove and its two small pebble beaches situated among pinkish granite rocks. Further on we come across \u201cRota”, a series of small inlets carved into black rock, that invite to stop for the first swim. The departure is from Marina di Campo beach. We head towards the left side of the gulf, characterized by granite rocks and orthoclase, then continue to flank between the coast and the islet of Porto Caccamo. Sea kayaking allows us to pass among emerging rocks, giving us the chance to enjoy beautiful colours and scents. Continuing you reach the enchanting Ischia cove and its two small pebble beaches set among pinkish granite rocks. We then get to “Rota” where a series of small inlets carved into the black rock tempt us to stop for a first swim.<\/p>\n

We cross the Gulf of Fonza, then round Priolo point, through which, with a suggestive passage among rocks, we reach Longio,\u00a0 a spot characterized by very white granite rocks enhancing the turquoise sea colour.\u00a0 An overlooking \u201cValle dei re\u201d evokes archaic legends from the island’s past.<\/p>\n

This area being particularly full of fish, in fact, it is likely to see small specimens flipping over the sea surface to escape predators.<\/p>\n

Rounded Punta Mete and left on our right Triglia rock, we reach Ripa Nera first, then Cala al Fico and its distinguishing beautiful crystals of calcite embedded in sheer rocks on the edge of the sea, we then arrive at \u2018Grotta dell\u2019Acqua’: a small cave with a source of fresh water in it, popular\u00a0 among seabirds that use it to quench their thirst. Silence and the canoes compact size, enable you to enter this cave and observe animals that with spectacular aerobatics manage to get in it.<\/p>\n

A few hundred meters from this cave, is \u201cSecca delle Coralline\u201d, a huge granite column vertically submerged 70 meters underwater. Once rounded the Coralline, we head up towards Lacona, a stretch of sea particularly transparent and rich in marine life, where you can often spot shags fishing; these elegant seabirds similar to cormorants have the peculiarity of catching fish by diving underwater, sometimes even at considerable depths.<\/p>\n

A charming little beach hidden among the rocks, inaccessible to boats and rafts, is the ideal landing place for our canoes, here beside swimming, you can just rest in the shade of the cosy cave nearby.<\/p>\n

Once left this small Paradise beach, we sail along Cala degli lnferno, home to one of the largest seagulls colonies of the island; this stretch with its poseidonia seabed is also the ideal habitat for redfish, octopuses and moray eels. We round Punta della Contessa, behind which, stand two WWII military outposts. After stopping at Lacona beach for a swim, we take to the sea again to head back to Marina di Campo.<\/p>\n

In the morning we depart from Marina di Campo beach, heading south-west towards the Gulf of Galenzana, as well as two tiny beaches, this gulf has also a “bagnolo”, a rocky shoal, that at low tide, emerges completely from the sea.<\/p>\n

Left Galenzana, we skirt “Grotta del Bue Marino” westwards, then find ourselves in front of “Grotta del Vescovo”, a bendy tunnel entirely accessible by our kayaks.<\/p>\n

After a few hundred meters we reach the southernmost end of the Gulf of Marina di Campo, from Capo Poro onwards the rocky coast gives way to a series of gray pebble beaches that invite you to stop for a swim or in order to admire the islands of Pianosa and Montecristo.<\/p>\n

Off again, we get to Colle Palombaia beach, a location only reachable via sea or via more than 200 steps, from here on, the coast is characterized by a cream white colour, typical of Elba’s granite;\u00a0 precisely along this stretch we discover “Grotta Azzura”, one of the largest cave on Elba, that you can visit inside even only to shelter a few minutes from the sun. Further on we reach the bay of Cavoli, one of the most appreciated on the island due to the intense turquoise colour of its water, and to its coarse-grained sand beach, formed as a result of granite erosion.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
