Sea Kayak moon tour |
| Night time kayak excursion, paddling on a silver sea.
Paddling at night is always beautiful, one can do it night after night but every time is like the first. The silence of the evening interrupted by the soft rhythm of the paddle as it breaks the water and lights up the plankton in the water is something that we always like to see. | | | | 2011 dates | dates on request | | Excursion price: | € 40 per person (including use of the kayak and necessary equipment) Marina di Campo – Capo di Mele – Marina di Campo
| We leave from Marina di Campo beach and head along the left side of the gulf with its granite rocks, clearly visible even a night, and we pass between the coast and Porto Caccamo island. The kayak allows us to pass among the rocks that appear at low tide, meaning that we can enjoy the splendid colours and perfumes. Continuing we get to the enchanting Ischia cove with its two small pebble beaches stuck between the pink granite rocks. Further ahead we find the “Rota” where a series of small coves dug into the black rock invite us to stop for a swim. We cross Fonza gulf and round Priolo point from where, with a spectacular paddle among the rocks, we get to Longio, with its extremely white granite rocks. The Valle dei Re above conjures up Island legends. This area is particularly rich in fish and we often meet shoals of small fish that jump above the water surface to escape their predators. Rounding Punta le Mete, leaving on our right the Triglia rock, first we get to Ripa Nera and then to Cala al Fico, with splendid limestone crystals set in the cliffs that fall straight down into the sea, then we arrive at Grotta dell’Acqua: this small grotto contains a fresh water spring an important point for sea birds who go there to quench their thirst. Thanks to the canoes being silent and compact we can enter the grotto to see the animals who, with spectacular and acrobatic flight, enter the cavern.
A few hundred metres from the grotto is the Coralline rock, an enormous sheer sided 70 metre granite column. After rounding the Coralline we turn our prows towards Marina di Campo gulf, but it is right here where the town lights aren’t visible that we lose ourselves to a sky full of more stars than you have ever seen.
