Nordic walking on the Island of Elba
Fitness on the paths of Elba, between the sky and the sea, in the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago.
Elba is renowned for its variety and the scene in front of us varies constantly. Nordic walking is done along the paths that farmers once used to get to their vineyards, or along those where goatherds took their goats to hill pastures, or we cross areas that witnessed life in ancient villages on the Elban hills. And there’s more, the rich vegetation which ranges from the spectacular chestnut trees of Monte Capanne to the thousands of flowers on the rest of the Island means that we will discover a real paradise.
What really makes Elba a paradise for Nordic Walking is the thousands of paths, varying in difficulty, from flat forestry tracks hidden amongst the greenery suitable for beginners to steep paths with hairpin bends for experts to climb to the summits of Elba where they’ll be presented with a 360° view.
But the most unique thing is that all this starts from the seashore (an untypical element in Nordic walking), immersed in the perfumes of lavender and rosemary we arrive on the summit of Monte Capanne, which at 1019 m is a real mountain. All the excursions are guided and include the use of poles and technical assistance.
