The Island of Elba, the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, Pianosa, Montecristo, Corsica this is the background, for more than ten years, of our hiking, mountain bike and kayak activities. Green tourism and sports holidays on the Island of Elba with itineraries that range from purely sporting to naturalistic; hiking trips along paths, mountain bike trips on paths and dirt track roads and other multi sport trips deepen your relationship with our uncontaminated countryside. As always we unite a sporting commitment (whether it is hiking, kayaking or mountain biking) to the spirit of adventure all in full respect of nature, the environment and the artistic wealth that are typical of the Island of Elba and the Tuscan Archipelago. There is nothing like savouring a trip in a sea kayak or a sailing boat to hone your senses and give you matchless thrills, while discovering the Cetacean Sanctuary and the coasts of Elba. Our aim is to create a friendly relationship with anyone who takes one of our trips. To this end we advise a limit of eight people per group. Our environmental excursion guides are all well qualified but in particular they are passionate about the “Viottolo” mission and profoundly tied to the Island of Elba territory . Elba is our island but we have expanded into Corsica and the other islands of the Tuscan Archipelago trying at the same time to keep faith with our philosophy, thus we have gained a deep knowledge of the area near us and through time we have got to know the locals of these islands, people who are separated from us by the sea, but this in its turn is also a good route of communication between these marvellous islands.
We will guide you along hiking and mountain bike routes on Elba and the other islands, letting you admire spectacular paths, a pristine natural environment rich with life and you will discover traces of thousands of years of history and get to know the culture of people who have, through the centuries, absorbed the cultural and genetic influences of all the civilisations that have developed around the Mediterranean Sea. From the evidence of pre-historic civilisations, to the granite areas of the great Monte Capanne, to the area of rich mines which gave their precious material to the inhabitants of various historical epochs, Etruscans, Romans and pirate incursions. From Marina di Campo to Rio nell’Elba, from Marciana to Capoliveri, a land ruled by the French, the British and the Spanish. They have all left traces of their passage on the Island of Elba. Strongholds are everywhere: at Portoferraio, Porto Azzurro. Impregnable ramparts that resisted violent raids from early times, through history up to our day. Apart from hiking and mountain biking, there are also weekly raids or daily trips in sea kayaks (canoes), paddling between the rocks and secluded beaches of the Island of Elba and the Tuscan Archipelago’s splendid coast.
With us you will dip into the pure heart of the local people and live unforgettable moments. You’ll run the risk of falling in love with Elba, with our lands and our seas and you won’t ever abandon “Il Viottolo” which, we are sure, we will leave inside you.
